Final Thoughts

Final Thoughts:

For all you that have been reading my blog and following my progress from Yorkshire, the South and Canada, I would just like to say thank you.  The support network from the comments on my blog and other Celebrity Slimmer’s has been fantastic. Lynn at Rowlands pharmacy in Cullingworth has been wonderful too. My school Mum chums have also been fantastic with their encouragement.

My weight loss of 17.5lb has improved my health and made to feel much better in myself. Despite the emotional rollercoaster I have been on with my Mum’s illness over the 8 weeks, the diet for me has been successful. It is the tip of the iceberg and I will hopefully continue to lose weight gradually.

It is almost a year since my car crash and I believe I am now a fitter, and probably slimmer, woman than before, which is helping significantly with my back pain. So I would like to say a big THANK YOU to Celebrity Slim for choosing me to take part in the challenge. Thank you to my Pulse slimming buddies Sue & Bev and to my family and friends for their support.

My box of Celebrity slim in the kitchen will continue to be filled each week for quite a while to come. I firmly believe that I won’t now be fat and forty!! I have lost weight and feel great…THANKYOU xxx

Tuesday to Tuesday!

Tuesday day 53

Pleased with yesterday’s result although would still have liked to have lost more weight. I cannot believe how quickly this challenge is passing by. I am starting to notice a big difference in my clothes. I am looking forward to getting a whole new summer wardrobe but would like to loose a bit more weight first. Have stuck to my usual routine of shake for breakfast and bar for lunch as that suits me really well in the car.

Wednesday Day 54

Have made a lovely curry for my tea. Still miss my naan breads and rice but with loads of extra veg it still fills me up. Neil is on nights so there is enough curry for at least 2 nights- yum yum! My friend Sally has told me I need to buy so clothes that fit! That’s great a shopping trip, but I want to loose a bit more weight first, I seem to be a bit “between sizes”

Thursday Day 55

More curry for tea yummy. Continue wit my shakes and bar. I think my favourite snack bar is the choc mint bar. I tend to save these for the evening to cure my chocolate cravings. I do find it harder when Neil is on nights- I think some of it is boredom so I head to the kitchen. I find the easiest thing is to clean the kitchen up immediately after tea and make the packed lunch early so that I can avoid the kitchen and the temptation.

Friday day 56

Yippee!!! I have booked my accommodation for my girl’s tour to New York in November. 6 or 7 women hitting the big apple! I’ll be so slim by then that I will require a designer wardrobe- Note to self….by a bigger suit case. The weather forecast for the weekend is great, I think my feet have got slimmer- my summer shoes are more like flip flops!!

Saturday day 57

It is a glorious summer day an ideal time for salad- so went off o the supermarket to stock up on the salad stuff for tea. Having a hair cut today- hope that will help me loose a few pounds on weigh in day! Had my usual shake and bar then a yummy salad with chilli for tea.

Sunday Day 58

Where has the sun gone? I’ve bought new summer shoes?????

More chilli today, with a lovely salad. I think my taste is definitely changing I would have screwed my nose up at salad a while ago! I feel so much better in myself now. It’s amazing that a few shakes and bars can make such a difference to my life!

Monday day 59

It’s the final week of the challenge now and the final on Friday. It will be great to meet everyone in Bolton and put names to faces! I’m really pleased with my weight loss- there is no denying would have liked to have been the over all winner- but I am a winner and have lost around 10% of my body weight which is fantastic. It’s great to see such a difference in such a short space of time. I am no longer obese so that feels great.

Tuesday Day 60

Weigh in day. I had lots of compliments about my new hair style in the playground. Have been told I look really different. It’s thanks to the Celebrity Slim Challenge, Melissa has just managed to find the Pulse on her radio- bless! Maybe she will hear my interview this week.

I only lost 300grams today, so a bit disappointed but 17.5lb in total is still great!

Note to self….buy a bigger suit case

It was great getting so many compliments!

Tuesday Day 44

I went out for a curry with my friend Liz this evening. The menu had healthy heart symbols on it so that made it easier to choose which dishes I could eat. We shared a chicken tikka starter. I had a lovely chicken and chilli tomato based curry for my main course, I avoided the rice and naan bread but came out of the restaurant feeling really full. I am sure my stomach has shrunk whilst being on the plan.

Wednesday Day 45

Back on the straight and narrow today no extra calories from a night on the town!! In the past, if I slipped off the wagon whilst on a diet, I always found it hard to return to the straight and narrow. I know that I was “good” last night but as this is a competition it made me even more determined to stick to the plan rigidly for the rest of the week. A shake for breakfast, weight watchers yoghurt for snack, chicken tikka salad for tea and a snack bar this evening.

Thursday Day 48

I am slipping on my water consumption a little bit this week. So I stocked up on my sparkling water my car journeys. The flavoured bottles do make it much easier to drink the 2 litres a day. I am really enjoying the mint chocolate shakes; I think they are my favourite…..like drinking an aero bar

Friday Day 49

It’s a beautiful evening a great night for a salad for tea. As Neil is off nights this week we went out for the evening. I decided to cook at home and have 3 glasses of wine out instead! I alternated my wine and water to ensure I didn’t over do it! It was great getting so many compliments about my weight loss in the village pub.

Saturday Day 50

The sun is out again, I decided to join Katie on the trampoline!! She thought it was great fun; I would not have had the confidence to do that 7 weeks ago. My cheeky hubby sent a photo text to Rick and Jenny ( of R&J Garden services) telling them that the patio needed reinforcing due to my trampoline efforts!!!!! We also went for a lovely walk this afternoon. I had a can of diet coke- it amazed me at what a headache I got after drinking it. It must prove that I am no longer dependent on caffeine anymore!

Sunday Day 51

We went off to Tropical World for a picnic. I packed a bag up for the others and a meal replacement bar for me. I don’t actually feel as if I am missing out. We stopped for ice cream this afternoon. I decided to be strong, skip the ice cream and have a diet coke. I got another throbbing head so no more coke for me! We had a lovely roast for tea, I just missed out on the spuds and stuffing, extra sprouts for me- yum yum!! I saw my gorgeous Goddaughter Amelia today. She is a year old and weighs 8.2kg- it’s hard to believe my weight loss to date is only 1.5 kg less than her entire body weight!

Monday Day 52

Weigh in day today. I am nervous. Lynn at Rowland pharmacy is so supportive; she always asks how I have been doing. The best thing is she always says I look slimmer each week. I lost 800grams this week. That’s great as I have lost 700 grams for the past 4 weeks in a row; I have done 100grams better!! I have stocked up with supplies for next week. I cannot believe the challenge is nearing its end. It has certainly given the inspiration and motivation to start to loose weight. I am determined to carry on now. It’s almost a year since I had my car crash, to celebrate my recovery I shall be doing the Sue Ryder 10 mile Midnight Walk on 15th May. Jenny (of R&J Garden services) has signed me up, on 15th May 2009 I could not have walked to the end of the road let alone 10 miles. I wonder what I’ll be doing a year from now, my confidence has grown so much in 7 weeks the world is my oyster!!

Days 38 – 43.

Wednesday Day 38.

God I feel lousy today real tummy cramps and feeling sick. I had my milkshake for breakfast and really didn’t fancy any food all day so had a celebrity slim chicken soup for tea. Went to bed really early in the hope I’ll feel better tomorrow.

Thursday day 39

Still feel off colour, there is a nasty bug going around- although I want to loose weight would rather not do it by being poorly!! Again had a shake for breakfast, had a real craving for carbs today so had a rich tea biscuit! Naughty naughty!!! Really didn’t eat much else again other than a plum and a celebrity slim soup for tea. Another early night.

Friday day 40

Back on form today so had a shake for lunch, an apple mid morning, a caramel meal bar- my favourite, for lunch and chicken tikka pieces as a mid afternoon snack. Lucky I had a snack that made me feel full as then spent 4 hours in Casualty with Callum who had hurt his arm at Sports Mix…..If it’s not parents its kids!!!! By the time I goy home I really couldn’t be bothered to cook so had a mint snack bar and an apple. I really wanted a Macdonalds but resisted!!

Saturday day 41

I am really hungry today. I think it’s a mixture of not eating properly when I wasn’t feeling great and missing tea last night. Had a cookie and creams shake for breakfast- mixed by Callum in the hope he’d use his “bad” arm to shake it. Fruit mid morning then took the kids to Harveseter. I tucked into the salad bar (carefully choosing items I can eat) and had chicken and bacon, without any spuds or peas.

This evening it was my friend Janine’s 40th Birthday party- I had told her I would stick to veggie sticks at the buffet and drink instead. I was introduced to her mum as “celebrity slim Ali !” I got a few comments on my weight loss which was great. I had salad at the buffet and resisted the temptation of all the yummy, yummy puds. I won’t lie and say it was easy not to tuck in, but as the wine was flowing very easily, I thought it best not to. Plus if I started I may eat the lot!!! It was a great party. I think I over did the wine a bit but hey ho It was a party!!! Janine looked stunning in a fantastic dress; I hope I look that good when I reach 40 in November. My forthcoming birthday was one of the incentives for entering the Celebrity slim challenge in the first place. These past 41 days have certainly helped make a big dent in the amount of weight I hope to lose by November.

Sunday day 42

We went off to Shibden Head Park this morning. Kids took snack and I took my meal bar. A round of pitch and putt was a fun way to burn a few calories and blow away the after effects of the party!! Callum & Katie had a Macdonald for lunch, I resisted, just drinking black coffee. I thought if I can’t have a burger and chips then I shall have caffeine!! I used to be a real coffee drinker before I started the plan, the first few days without my caffeine fix was hell. But now I really don’t miss it. In fact I was quite disappointed with my brew. I should have stuck with hot water. I‘ve had a bit of a topsy turvey week so a bit apprehensive about the results of my next weigh in.

Monday day 43

The sun is out which makes me more determined to loose weight so I can have a whole new summer wardrobe!! It’s weigh in day and I am nervous….I want to have lost my stone when I step on the scales today. It is such a lovely evening I decided to walk to and from the chemist to get weighed; it’s over a mile each way. Result!!! I’ve done it another 700grams so that is over 15lb or 1 stone 1 lb in total. I bought a lotto ticket at the weekend with lots of number 7’s on it and didn’t get 1 number…..maybe next week I’ll win the lotto with number 7 instead. I am however on a winner at the moment with Celebrity Slim!

On a winner with Celeb Slim!

Easter Blog…

Wednesday Day 31

One of my celebrity slim “buddies” recommended trying weight watchers yoghurts for my snack as they are around 50 calories- I did and they were a nice change. Its great sharing ideas with others on the challenge.

Mum remains in hospital so exercise is difficult due to time constraints but trying sit ups at home. I have muscles in my stomach I didn’t know I had, gosh they ache!!!

I went to a school fund raising meeting this evening. I had lots of comments and people asking me about what the challenge involved.

Thursday Day 32

Why do the pulse presenters insist on talking about chocolate Easter eggs so much???? I can feel my mouth watering in the car. I had a choc caramel bar at lunch time to satisfy my sweet craving…..not quite the same as an Easter egg but a sweet substitute. I am turning in to a born again dieter- I saw a rather large lady walking around today. I wanted to yell out of the window that there was an easy way to start loosing weight try Celebrity slim.

Friday Day 33

Good Friday- Hot cross buns- yum yum. Why do they smell so good? Callum wanted to go to the Kirkgate shopping centre to take part in the Pulse Eggs factor karaoke, we all went along to support him and he won a chocolate egg. Chocolate is banned in our house for Easter. It will be expensive but the kids are getting a DSI game each and a small egg. We went to the pub for lunch. I choose a mushroom dopiaza and substituted the rice for salad. It was delicious. Did 10 mins on the rowing machine, to try to compensate for any extra calories that may have been hidden in my lunch.

Saturday Day 34

More sit ups today!! God my stomach hurts. I am on cloud nine….I bough a dress it was size 16! Not done that for a very long time.

Easter eggs have found their way in to our house….eek!! I had a chocolate shake instead not quite the same but less calorific than a big chocolate egg!

Sunday Day 35- Easter Sunday

My kids are sooo sweet they know I am not eating chocolate so had drawn me a big egg and Easter bunny. They were a little disappointed that the Easter bunny seemed to be on rations but delighted with their games. Sue my celebrity slim buddy from the Pulse and I went dress shopping to Castleford for the final. I was delighted that the dress I tried on was too big! Sue got a lovely dress which she looks great in. It’s the first time I have seen Sue since the introductory evening and I could really see that she had lost loads of weight. We were soooo proud of ourselves that we went in both Thorntons and Cadburys shops and bought things for other people. We had a coffee in Starbucks avoided the cakes and ate our celebrity slim bars!!

Monday Day 36

It’s my gorgeous Goddaughter, Amelia, first birthday today. We went around for her party complete with a large plate of veggies and dips. Jenny had prepared jacket spuds for the grown ups with lots of fillings so I had some prawns a sprinkling of cheese and lots of veggies. I only had 1 glass of wine and several glasses of sparkling water. I had a few peanuts for my snack this evening which made a nice change. More sit ups this evening. I do hope the scales are good to me tomorrow or I will be very disappointed. I have found the temptations of Easter very hard to avoid but so far I’ve managed it!

Tuesday Day 37

I lost another 700grams today and 0.5cm from my waist. It seems that 700g is my slow and steady loss, as I’ve lost that for 3 weeks in a row. I am hoping that as it is a consistent loss it will stay off. Hopefully by next week I will have lost that magical stone and be officially over weight rather than obese!

Post Easter!

Week 4

 Tuesday  Day 23

Still a little down hearted at my weight loss at yesterdays weigh in. I sent an email around to all the celebrity slimmer’s nationally and got so many responses. A few handy tips too! It was great to hear all the words of encouragement. Sarah from Celebrity slim at Rowlands pharmacy also phoned for a chat and again was really positive; she explained my weight loss was acceptable for my size and height. So I am even more focused now and determined, I have taken on an 8 week challenge and intend to see it through.

My great friend Jenny (of R&J garden services) is a diamond, she trudged around St Ives Park tonight with me in the pouring rain. I don’t think I have ever been so wet! My waterproof coat is certainly not waterproof anymore. Jenny is slimmer now than when she fell pregnant with my gorgeous Goddaughter Amelia who turns 1 next month- so she certainly didn’t need the extra exercise. Do you think the rain water counts towards my 2 litres a day??

Wednesday Day 24

I added some ass blaster sauce form Canada to my chilli this evening….it does as it says on the label. My chilli had a mighty fine kick to it!! I have monitored my water intake closely today to make sure I am not over doing it. Mum remains poorly, which is stressful, so I missed my exercise slot with visiting today…but hey ho will make it up at the weekend.

Thursday Day 25

I had a comment at school today from Sally one of the super fit Mum’s who is exercise barmy. She has noticed I am looking slimmer- RESULT!!

Chicken and Veg curry for tea, with my Ass blaster sauce for that extra flavour. I am still adding the fibre sachets to my shakes and feel they make a real difference with my bloating.

Friday Day 26

Another good day on the straight and narrow….God I hope this week on the scales is kind to me!

Saturday Day 27

I find the weekends a little more challenging as there is food for the rest of the family in the kitchen that waves at me every time I open the door! Had some peanuts as a snack today which was a nice change. I decided to go on the rowing machine at my Mum’s whilst visiting her today- OUCH – 2 blisters on my feet from not wearing shoes! No pain no gain though hey!

Sunday Day 28

Took Katie swimming this morning, I don’t think that really counts as exercise, so back on the rowing machine again…..this time WITH shoes!! Had bacon as a snack, whilst the rest of the family had bacon sarnies, I couldn’t cook it and not eat it!

Mulligatawny soup is delicious really creamy and loads of flavour, they are definitely on my celebrity slim shopping list fro next week

Monday Day 29

Have done a really long day at work today so very tired, I am not getting weighed til tomorrow as the chemist is closed now. All the other celebrity slimmer’s seem to be doing really well, it’s great to get the emails from everyone with an update. Had decided on chicken salad for tea….but slight break down in communication, Neil and the kids had eaten all the chicken. Tuna instead then!

Tuesday Day 30

Half way stage weigh in and I have lost another 700g that’s another 1.5 lbs. Still would like to have lost more but the 4cm of my waist this week is really encouraging. I can’t believe we are half way through the competition already.

Day 22

I am gutted I only lost 700grams this week. I feel as if I have hit a bit of a brick wall, I am hoping that my other celebrity slimmers will be able to give me some words of wisdom. I am determined not to give up but I must admit if next weeks weight loss is no better I may well be on the chocolate!
